Boot-camp

hello all,
I took a boot-camp class yesterday and i have to tell you all about it because it was GREAT! I'm no stranger to boot-camp i used to be a regular before i started by pre-race prep and gave other sorts of excersie a rest. I'm lucky becuase my uni gym runs the classes and they are included to my gym membership so now i really have no excuse! Our instructor Peter is wonderful, harsh when needed but always manages to get a smile out of you while pushing you to do that last situp/squat...this is a talent really because usally im not in a great mood when im hurting! He also works at the local YMCA in Eltham and also runs sessions with the vixens netball team...this guy knows what he is doing!
Each session is different and yesterday focused on weight training and sprints.. just what i needed!
These sessions are never boring, he manages to push you to be your best you! Boot-camp is also wonderful for those of you who dont excerise reguarly, dont know where to start, in an excersie rut or simply just lookng for a Fun way to get alittle varity in you excerise regime.
STILL NOT SURE? Dont worry although you are pushed to work hard, there is no military style yelling ect. you are stronger than you think! GIVE IT A GO!
Bikram Yoga

I do heaps of different exercises  and i plan to share and review them here... so i thought what better than to start off with my latest fave  bikram yoga.
What is it?
Bikram yoga is also called hot yoga. It takes place over a 90minute period where 26 postures and 2 breathing excerises are performed in a specially heated room. Bikram yoga is practiced in the heat to allow your soft tissues to relax The profuse sweating both detoxifies the body and also produces a natural cooling mechanism to help prevent the body from overheating.Honestly what i thought...
The hardest thing i have done.. I didnt enjoy it and was fustrated that my body couldnt handle the heat, i spent time sitting down out of the class...more than i would have liked. The goal all new people are told to have in their first class is to stay in the room...pretty simple and i did achieve that.
when the class was over i couldnt get out of that room quick enough! After class reflecting on how i felt i convinced my self it wasnt that bad, this was probably influenced by the extrodinary feeling of release..my body felt relaxed, clensed and rejuvinated!
So...i gave it another chance and went back and did another class.. AND I LOVED IT!
The second class was so much easier..(i have alot to learn)but the heat didnt bother me as much and i loved every moment of it.
Why i love it?
Its not only excerise for my body but for 90mins my mind was focused relaxed and i had this wonderful feeling of calm.
Where i do it..

This environment raises the heart rate to produce a cardiovascular workout. The heat also lowers the viscosity (thickness) of the blood, allowing it to flow more easily and deeply into bodily tissues and organs to help in healing injured areas.
Your immune function is boosted.
The focus developed in this environment strengthens your discipline, determination and power of concentration.

  1. I like Power Yoga 2, but Bikram Yoga has so much art and sex appeal.
