No one is going to be more harsh than you!

hi friends..this is a funny post for my blog because...well....usally things get pretty dam harsh around here..
Its not me being mean to anyone else, but essentially being mean to myself. Im a huge fan of tough love and hurting a little for results but when is it time to step back and accept you have given it your all and thats ok?

I find that i am compasionate to others when they confide in me about their diet relapses...'you are human after all, tomorrow is a new day'. When someone is fustrated about lack of working out in a week 'life happens, its about quality on quanity'..

I suspect im not alone..its much easier to give out kind advice to others than actually accept it for yourself. Why is it that we hold ourselves to much higher standards than others? Is it an ego thing? Why do you have to be better than someone else.. Or is it an achievment thing? lots of people have goals and are driven..
There is a fine fine line between both of these i think.

What i have come to realise no one is more willing to be harsh and rude to you than you are, the funny thing is your more likely to succeed if you have self belief than if others believe in you..essentially we set our own limits. Self bashing becuase you may not have run as far as you would have liked or your body is injured and cant give your 100% only limits the results that your actually are able to achieve.

Things dont always go to plan but beating yourself up about it cannot be the answer. Pathways to reaching your goals often need to be re assessed, not the goals themselves. Focus must be on the future but also dont forget the present. What are you able to do now that is great based on you..not others around you. Being kind to ones self is not weakness.

The way you choose to react to a situation comes from your understanding of the facts at the time. You may learn additional things later that would change the way you'd respond in the future but at the time of the event, you made the best decision you could. That's what you have to remember. You did the best you could at the time of the event. Forgive yourself. You did the best you could.

It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.  ~Edmund Hillary
